Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is situated on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for tasks which require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. For instance, employees can carry out exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but using these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift bucket normally just holds one employee. These buckets are more suited to particular tasks like electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires and are available in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces beneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. Because these units must be positioned directly below the work site, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, however, offer bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of machines, as they should sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for cladding or window installation, because they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a great choice for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Cherry pickers, boom trucks and bucket trucks each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle used specifically for vertical work. Typically, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee could stand along with an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for carrying.
Boom trucks take workers to heights which would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy supplies or equipment from one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types that can carry out various purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at different jobs and are great for certain applications and finishing certain jobs.
