Seat Belts for Counterbalances
A forklift, also referred to as a counterbalance, lifts loads as heavy as 30,000 lbs. Despite being big and sturdy, these industrial machinery still carry the potential chance of accident or crash. In order to be safe, be certain to have operators put on an appropriate seat belt inside the forklift and check that up to standard safety features are on board. We all know that in the event of an accident, seat belts can save lives.
Three-Point Seat Belt
The kinds of seat belts that could extend both across the upper body and over the lap are the three-point seat belts. These belts provide an added degree of safety by protecting your body. They are available in both bench-seat and buckle-seat styles. The 3-point seat belts are offered in either non-retractable or retractable styles.
Retractable seat belts are usually utilized in the majority of modern vehicles on the market. Though non-retractable types increase safety, retractable types offer much more comfort. It is impossible for a non-retractable seat belt to accidentally extend.
Lap belts
The type of seat belt that only extends over the lower portion of the body is a two-point lap belt. The majority of lap belts feature a push-button closure system and are non-retractable. In order to secure the seat belt, simply press on the belt button and the two sides will separate.
Circuit-closed seat belt
The circuit-closed seat belts are the kind that force forklift operators to wear a seat belt. These kinds of seat belts have a micro-switch attached which makes an alarm sound if an operator starts a vehicle and is unsecured by a seat belt. The circuit-closed seat belts are made in both retractable and non-retractable lap-band styles.
