How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind while attempting to carry out tasks which could have otherwise required using the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best alternative for completing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will need to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
The machinery has to be parked next to an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located in the basket of the lift, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, models which are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger can likely take place.
