Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to store supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is usually utilized. This particular version has telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in multiple directions. This version is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Often more than one type of reach truck is needed within warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
